METRA is a non-profit organisation grouping a team of experts dedicated to the practice and experimentation of transdisciplinary methodologies to address contemporary social, environmental, and cultural challenges. We work at the intersection of research, education, collective creation, and public action, fostering dialogue between academic, community-based, artistic, and professional forms of knowledge.
METRA is driven by the conviction that many of today’s challenges cannot be addressed through specialised knowledge alone, but require cross-boundary ways of producing knowledge, learning, and acting together. We promote methodological approaches that recognise diverse ways of being, feeling, participating, and knowing, and that place care, reflexivity, and purposeful action at the centre of knowledge processes.
We design, support, and evaluate methodological laboratories and innovations, applied research projects, learning processes, and spaces for collective experimentation. Our work places particular emphasis on participatory, creative, community-based, and context-sensitive approaches. It draws on traditions such as participatory action research, critical pedagogy, arts-based methodologies, and transdisciplinary approaches to sustainability, while integrating technological and data-based tools where relevant.
METRA operates as a collaborative space connecting researchers, educators, artists, professionals, public institutions, and civil society organisations. Working across local, European, and international contexts, we seek to contribute to more just, relevant, and transformative knowledge practices.
